Confirmation Class is purposed to explore the foundation of our Christian faith. We search out what the purpose of the church community is, the role of mission and what it means to become a member of the United Methodist Church. We learn about the structure of the United Methodist Church and of God's church both locally and globally. From a Biblical perspective, we spend time remembering the stories of God's actions with people. It is all a story of hope, while being a relevant message for our time.
The Confirmation Class process is not only informational, but Spiritually formational as well. We learn, for example about various types of prayer, understanding this as our primary mode through which we relate to God. All Confirmands engage in outreach and service, as this is the example set by Jesus Christ. We learn about the gift of God to humankind in Jesus Christ, and what it is to choose him as Lord of our life.
At the end of Confirmation class, students are prepared to make a decision to join into church membership, as their choice to do so marks the beginning of assuming responsibility to grow along this lifelong journey. Parent support is very important for students involved in Confirmation classes.
All students grades 9 and older are welcome to participate. Classes begin in winter, and continue through the summer until late September when the students are Confirmed. One series of classes is held each year.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. — John 8:12
